Why The Colorado Department of Education has established a standard to assist school districts and schools in implementing Colorado’s accountability program. Committee has open discussion of the school’s goals, programs and measured outcomes.
How Committee consisting of at least the Principal, Teacher Representative, Business Community Representative, and 4 Parent Representatives.

School Accountability Committee (SAAC)
Roles and Goals 2011-2012
The primary responsibilities of the School Accountability Committee are outlined in the CO Dept of Education District Accountability Handbook, Version 1.4, dated July 21, 2010. Committee Responsibilities are stated as:
- Recommending to the principal of the school priorities for spending school moneys;
- Making recommendations to the principal of the school and the superintendent concerning preparation of a school Performance plan;
- Meeting at least quarterly to discuss whether district leadership, personnel, and infrastructure are advancing or impeding implementation of the district’s Performance plan, and other progress pertinent to the school’s accreditation contract with the local school board.
In order to enhance and support student achievement, the following goal has been adopted by SAAC:
- The committee will enhance communication methods between school and home.
Action Plan:
(1) Communicate on a quarterly basis with a SAAC newsletter to students’ homes on:
- achievement issues
- information and promotion of school programs
- encourage high parent involvement in all aspects of the school
- assist in preparing for parent-teacher conferences
(2) Support effective website presence to enhance knowledge of the school and maintain a high image.
(3) Continue to consider effective uses of technology to enhance communication and dialogue between school, home and the community.
Evaluation: At the end of the year, the committee will evaluate the successes and challenges during the past year and identify new areas for implementation in the fall 2011.
